Latif Ladid, president of the Global IPv6 Forum, said at the "2018 Global Next Generation Internet Summit" on the 21st that industrial-level networking protocols should become an important part of the next generation Internet, which will further promote the use of IPv6 worldwide. Permeability. The "2018 Global Next Generation Internet Summit" jointly sponsored by the Global IPv6 Forum, China's Next Generation Internet National Engineering Center and Zhijiang Laboratory was held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province from 21st to 22nd.
The conference invited more than 800 representatives from government departments, academic institutions and enterprises to discuss how to accelerate IPv6 deployment in China and globally.
IPv6 is the abbreviation of "Internet Protocol Version 6", designed by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) to replace the current "Internet Protocol Version 4" (IPv4) next-generation Internet core protocol. IPv4 has been in use for 40 years, and network address coding is almost exhausted; IPv6 can theoretically provide up to 2 128-bit IP addresses, which can "assign a URL to every grain of the world."
Ladid said in his speech that the current global IPv6 deployment rate is about 20% to 25%. At this stage, Internet content providers such as Google and Facebook have played a key role in promoting IPv6. The next period of rapid penetration of IPv6 will appear in industrial applications. To make IPv6 use more than 70% globally, it also needs to rely on industrial Internet of Things and manufacturing, for example, using IPv6 to connect water facilities, power grids, etc., and intelligent network management through relevant industrial protocols and standards.
Zhou Hongren, executive deputy director of the China National Informatization Expert Advisory Committee, said in a keynote speech that the global Internet of Things system will become the basic platform for all future political, economic, cultural and other activities. Anyone, machine and thing will become the global Internet of Things. The underlying interface, which will connect 50 billion terminals, is expected in the next 10 to 15 years, so the existing network must be transformed with IPv6-centric next-generation Internet to accommodate such a large number of objects.
The Global IPv6 Forum is an international technology and industry alliance launched in Europe in 1999. It is committed to joint operators and enterprises to promote the commercialization of IPv6. It has now developed into the most influential and wide-ranging non-profit international organization in the IPv6 field.
Ladid and Liu Dong, director of the next-generation Internet National Engineering Center, also signed a strategic cooperation agreement on behalf of the two parties. The future global IPv6 forum will establish a forum secretariat in China and establish a community with China in IPv6 industry upgrades and technical standards. .
