At the end of the first day of the CCF-GAIR conference, Dr. Yong Yong, executive vice president of the Microsoft Asia Research Institute, executive director of the CCF, IEEE, IAPR and SPIE, and a member of the world-class academic organization such as SPIE, and Wang Qiang, co-founder of the real-world fund In the "Artificial Intelligence Business Scene" dialogue, everyone has seen the movie "China Partner", and the original form of the Dawei was Wang Qiang. Now Wang Qiang as an investor, what is the artificial intelligence in his eyes? Let us listen to the dialogue between Yong Yong and Wang Qiang.
Zhengge Fund Co-Founder Wang Qiang
Yong Yong: Artificial intelligence has been hotter in the past six months. Some companies are doing better and some are a little bigger. I would like to hear what you think about this.
Wang Qiang: Because I am an amateur, I will show you from our investment practice how we see this thing.
I think that the industrial revolution has developed to a new starting point. On the one hand, we are increasingly injecting the brain power of people into the machine; on the other hand, the machine is increasingly replacing the human mind.
I think AI is just starting. From an investor's point of view, what is invested is the choice of the investor's own life and death, not the choice of the future of human life and death . On the one hand, this revolution is injecting human wisdom into the machine, and at the same time, it is necessary for the machine to have more functions that the traditional brain cannot carry. I think at any stage, if it can use technological means, such as the growth of materials science, the progress of algorithms, etc., it can solve practical problems with a very precise accuracy, and it is the core of its actual business value.
Natural language is like a map of the world for the whole human mind. Although its information is complex, it is analyzable and visualized. We grasp natural language, but it only captures a very small part of man’s existence as intellectual. . If we give all the effects of human intelligence to the machine through the analysis of natural language, then people's sense of dissatisfaction with it must be very strong. Artificial intelligence is always lower than humans, and the degree of intelligence is also high given by humans. Otherwise, artificial intelligence is not called. If one day, the machine's intelligence is equal to ours, at best it is to achieve the most accurate answer in the process of communication between people or to replace what we need to be able to output clearly and logically through language. The most effective result of artificial intelligence is in the field of fixed quantitative precision. If a thing can accurately achieve the place that human intelligence can reach, then it is valuable.
Yong Yong: Do you invest in angels. What do you mainly look at? Are you looking at people? Look at this technology? Or look at the business model? Or look at something else?
Wang Qiang: Since we established in 2011, we have clearly defined the philosophy of true grid investment. We only look at people. Angel investment is the most advanced aspect of investment. Sometimes even entrepreneurs themselves cannot clearly answer what they want to do. He only has a general direction and big goal. Of course, the bigger the direction is, the closer to the person's real needs is. I do not agree with many investment institutions that they are going to vote on the track. The track must have only appeared in the later period. What is the track at the Angels stage? As Lu Xun said: There are no roads in the world, and there are many people walking. There is no way for angels to invest. But if someone dares to go, you dare to cast this thing. Maybe you will step on a road.
Executive Vice President of Microsoft Asia Research Institute, Standing Director of CCF, Dr. Yong Yong, a member of international leading academic organizations such as IEEE, IAPR and SPIE
Yong Yong: There are several factions of artificial intelligence. One camp thinks that the singularity will come in 2046. Artificial intelligence surpasses the wisdom of human beings and no longer exists. The other is that this road is still far away. I would like to hear what you think.
Wang Qiang: Artificial intelligence is a great dream for people. We are now talking about just cutting the most complicated things into thin slices. Nowadays, all things like memory, monitors, sensors, etc. are the first level. It imitates all organs of the world and the second part is the way people and the world communicate. The simplest language is what we call it. Natural language; but if you slice behind the language, the difference between humans and other animals, creatures, or machines lies in the different levels of emotions. People not only have consciousness, but also have subconscious consciousness that is more difficult to trace. Let the machine have human emotions still in the distant future, not to mention the consciousness or even the subconscious. If one day AI really conquers humans, humans must surpass the species they create or they will be replaced; so people will become smarter and more diligent, or they will be destroyed.
Yong Yong: The singularity we mentioned is actually a strong artificial intelligence. I think this day is still very far; weak artificial intelligence is one thing that can be done. This can be achieved. Can you imagine which industries might be replaced by artificial intelligence in the next 5 or 10 years?
Wang Qiang: Any field that can clearly and logically clear logical nodes and simultaneously provide accurate answers through analysis of language and images will be replaced by artificial intelligence in the future. Why don't we leave the strongest creativity to our brains, let artificial intelligence replace the most wasteful part of our brainpower, and finally continue to improve our intelligence level. For example, past manufacturing, current driving, future education, medicine, these goals are all very clear and precise. With data accurate, I think that in the not-too-distant future, it is the most commercial value and investment value.
Yong brave: Go back to the topic. We talked about several ways to commercialize artificial intelligence today. Which path do you think is more successful?
Wang Qiang: One is to solve the problem at the platform level, because dealing with a large number of languages, pictures, etc. requires platform-level collaboration. Once this thing is in place, it will not need anyone else to do it again.
On the other hand, it is easy to judge from the investment point of view that the selected field is very focused on narrowness, the goal is very clear, and the results are immediate, such as imaging and neurosurgery. The more precise the field, the more investment direction we believe .
