In 2003, Audi also helped establish a working group to promote the EU's approval of advanced, more efficient lighting technologies. At present, the EU has issued a special permit to Audi to carry full LED headlights on the R8 sports car.

Full LED headlights are fully functional, whether it is daytime driving, turn signals, low beam, high beam, etc. Each headlight group uses 54 LED light sources, and low energy consumption is a major feature. Low-beam lighting consumes only 50 watts, and daytime driving consumes only 6 watts. LEDs are often arranged in clusters or side by side as a separate source of light.
However, despite the technical excellence of LED headlamps, there are still some design issues to consider when applying LED headlamps to the automotive industry. The headlight design is the image and soul of the car. Finding a balance between the functionality and aesthetic needs of headlights is a major challenge that will be faced and the most exciting aspect of future automotive design.
