China's Internet of Things security key technology is included in international standards for the first time

At the second World Internet Conference held here, a good news came. TRAIS, an IoT security key technology independently developed by China, has been included in international standards. This is China's first international standard in the field of RFID for the core technology of the Internet of Things. It is another breakthrough for Chinese technology companies to participate in the formulation of international standards.

RFID, a radio frequency identification system, is a key technology for building the Internet of Things. It is considered to be one of the ten most important technologies in the 21st century. Therefore, the formulation of its standards has become the focus of competition in the advanced economies.

“The core technology of TRAIS from China has been included in the international standard system, which indicates that China is deeply involved in the core technology activities of major global industries.” Huang Zhenhai, an expert of the TRAIS technology project team, said in an interview during the conference. .

He said that President Xi Jinping’s five-point proposal on building a community of cyberspace destiny in the keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the conference embodies the responsibility of the big powers of the Internet. The emergence of TRAIS as an international standard is a concrete manifestation, indicating that in some areas of the Internet, China is becoming a leader from the bystanders and followers of technical standards.

According to Du Zhiqiang, an expert in the National Engineering Laboratory of Wireless Network Security Technology, in the rapid development of the Internet of Things, the security problems exposed by RFID are becoming more and more serious. The future Internet of Things will involve all aspects of human activities, not only in information security, in the safety of objects, but also in personal safety. Once attacked, it can have serious consequences.

TRAIS is based on the TePA ternary peer-to-peer security architecture developed by Xidian Jietong. It has been developing for ten years. Huang Zhenhai said that TRAIS technology can provide air interface security services such as physical authentication, secure communication, and access control. It can resist the security threats such as label forgery, data eavesdropping, and tampering, and protect the RFID's extensive security use.

It is understood that the TRAIS technical project team is led by the WAPI Industry Alliance and consists of more than a dozen domestic enterprises and research institutions. This extensive joint approach has also laid the industrial foundation for the effective promotion of this achievement in China and internationally.

According to reports, there are currently three major technical standards systems for RFID, namely EPC global led by the United States, UID and ISO/IEC standard systems of Japan. From a technical perspective, TRAIS technology fully supports these three standards.
