In the solar photovoltaic module lamination process, the solar cells are bonded using two layers of film, so that the solar cells are integrated with the glass and the back sheet. Two layers of film generally have a layer that needs to be cut off by short-wave UV. The back plate itself has a certain resistance to the ultraviolet light intensity of ultraviolet light of 300 nm to 380 nm, but some of the back plate may still undergo yellowing under the irradiation of ultraviolet light, resulting in destruction of the molecular component of the back plate layer, and the whole of the back plate. Performance is degraded, while the reflectivity of the backplane is reduced, affecting the overall output of the component. Therefore, the yellowing of the solar backing film (Fig. 1) also greatly affects the quality of the solar backing, which requires measurement of the yellowing value of the solar backing film.

The following describes how to use the spectrophotometer CS-660 of Hangzhou Caipu Technology to test the yellowing value of the solar backsheet.
Step 1: First prepare the standard and sample of the solar backing film to be tested (Figure 3);

Step 2: Turn on the spectrophotometer CS-660, first perform black and white calibration. After the black and white calibration is completed, press the “Print” button to first position the measurement area and align the standard to be tested with the test hole (see Figure 4). Be careful not to leak light to avoid affecting the test results, then press the “Test” button to complete the measurement after “drop” sound, and check the test results (Figure 5);

Step 3: After the above standard measurement is completed and saved, press the “Menu” button to enter the “Sample Measurement” interface under the standard, and align the sample with the test hole according to the standard measurement method (eg Figure 6), press the “Test” button to measure, “Drop” sound to complete the color difference measurement, and view the measurement results (Figure 7).

After the measurement is completed, the yellowing value of the measured solar backing film and the difference between different samples can be seen through the instrument. The accurate data intuitively expresses the quality of the product and can meet the high requirements of the customer for product quality. Thereby improving product quality, ensuring solar cell absorption of sunlight, and increasing the power output of solar photovoltaic modules.
