Interpretation of LED bulbs, controllers, ERP latest safety requirements

With the rapid development of the LED industry, China is gradually developing into a major production base and export base for global LED lighting products. A large number of LED lighting companies deliver high-quality LED products all over the world, and certification has begun to show its importance.

On March 27th, Bureau Veritas Bureau of Electrical and Electronic Services of Bureau Veritas held the “Technical Symposium on LED Certification Requirements” in Xiaolan, Zhongshan. Liu Ying, senior engineer of Bureau Veritas Electronic Products Division, introduced the LED certification requirements to the participants, focusing on the details of EN 62471, EN 62031, EN 61347, IEC 62560, ERP, etc., and answered the questions raised at the scene. Help industry professionals understand the latest certification requirements, improve product performance and market competitiveness, and quickly and effectively expand the market.

Liu Ying, Senior Engineer, Bureau Veritas Inspection & Electronics Department

IEC/EN62560 certification

This standard is more than 50V self-ballasted LED lamp safety requirements, mainly used to replace the current high-voltage self-ballasted LED lamps such as bulb lamps and other products general EN60968 standard, and in the terms of the content of the two standards are also very similar. The difference is: 1: Introduce the concept of self-ballasted LED lamps. 2: According to the actual situation of LED lamp products, the type of lamp has been expanded. 3: The lamp torque test is performed in two states: new lamp and used lamp. 4: Abnormal fault test terms have been greatly modified. 5: Add the LED lamp/module/accessory and related test device module's test standard guidelines. Liu Ying emphasized: "The current IEC 62560 release is currently available in February 2011, and the latest release of EN 62560 is released in 2009. However, the 2006/95/EC Low Voltage Directive has not been included, so this standard is still not required for CE certification. standard."

IEC/EN 62471 certification

The purpose of IEC/EN 62471 is to assess the optical radiation hazards associated with different lamps and lamp systems, and to completely replace the requirements of the IEC/EN60825 standard for energy levels of LED products, and to increase the photobiological requirements, including radiation intensity, radiation Brightness, etc., and based on the test data on the hazard classification of the product, including exemption level, low hazard, medium hazard, high hazard level. Among them, the European standard EN 62471:2008 has been implemented since September 1, 2009, and the EN60825 LED has completely failed on September 1, 2010.

Liu Ying said: "IEC/EN60825 is mainly for single-wavelength light energy test calculations, and IEC/EN62471 is mainly for the measurement of broadband light, and comprehensive human eye and skin response to light, time, angle, sensitivity Calculate other aspects."

IEC 61347 certification

Safety requirements for LED control devices IEC 61347-2-13, "Control devices for lamps - Part 2-13: Particular requirements for DC or AC electronic control devices for LED modules" is an LED module control issued by IEC in May 2006 Device safety specifications. The LED module in this specification uses an electronic control device, that is, a unit inserted between the power supply and one or more LED modules to provide the LED module with a rated voltage or rated current. The unit may contain one or more individual components. Parts, and may have features for dimming, adjusting power factor, and suppressing radio interference. In particular, she cautioned that the standard makes extensive use of the corresponding clauses in IEC 61347-1, so it is necessary to consider IEC 61347-2-13 and IEC 61347-1 together.

ERP instruction

On October 31st, 2009, the European Commission announced in its official gazette OJ the rewriting directive of the EUp Directive (2005/32/EC): "The Framework for Establishing Ecological Design Requirements for Energy-related Products" (2009/125/EC) (referred to as ErP) and takes effect on the 20th day from the date of publication. After the new directive took effect, it replaced the then EUp directive.

The most striking change in the ERP Directive (2009/125/EC) is the expansion of energy-consuming products from the original EUp Directive into Energy-related Products. However, some other contents such as the establishment of implementation measures, no major changes.

“What needs special attention is: The EuP Directive is a CE mark directive, which means that in addition to meeting EU regulations, EMC, RoHS and other directives, products exported to the European Union must meet the requirements of the EuP directive before they can be posted. CE sign." Liu Ying said.
