Each of the three sets of channels of the component is operated by an independent True Color PWM (PWM) signal, allowing each channel to be independently dimmed with a high dimming ratio of 3,000:1. Its fixed-frequency, current-mode architecture ensures stable operation over a wide range of supply and output voltage ranges, while frequency-adjustment pins allow users to set frequencies between 330kHz and 2.1MHz to optimize efficiency and make external components The size is minimized.
The LT3492 thermally enhanced 4mm x 5mm QFN (or thermally enhanced TSSOP) package provides a very small solution footprint for 50 watt LED applications. The LT3492 senses the output current at the high voltage side of the LED for buck, buck, or boost configurations. Through the external sense resistor, the user can set the output current range of each channel. Each of the three independent drive channels has an internal 600 mA, 60 volt NPN switch and a built-in gate driver. A PMOS disconnect is reached. Other features include open LED protection and overheating restrictions.
