White light LED patent dispute billion light victory over Japan

On April 27th, Yiguang issued a patent invalidation and non-infringement claim in the US District Court of the Eastern District of Michigan in the United States in April 2012 for the Japanese patents US 5998925 and US 7531960. The two patents are YAG phosphors for patents related to LED and phosphor concentration. On April 22, 2015, the jury of the Eastern District Court of the United States of Michigan decided that the rights claimed by Nichia could be invalidated on the grounds that the patent was not progressive and the patent was not enforceable.

In addition, in March 2012, Yiguang also filed a patent invalidation lawsuit against the German Federal Patent Court of the German Patent White No. DE 69702929 (EP 0936682). The German Federal Patent Court issued an invalid judgment on the patent in September 2014, which contained all the rights of the patent as invalid, and the Japanese Asianization had to bear the referee fee.

The above two cases were the major victory after Yifei won the invalidation of the Japanese patent No. JP 4530094 in May 2014. After the review, the Japanese Yahua appealed and revised the JP 4530094 and was approved by the Japan Patent Office.
