Molex offers one-piece solderless connectors for Sharp's lighting solutions

Molex , the world's leading provider of complete interconnect products, announced that its solderless LED array lampholders are now compatible with Sharp's Zenigata LED lighting portfolio, including 15W, 25W and 50W Mega Zenigata and 4W-15W Mini Zenigata products. Molex LED Array Holders use a unique compression contact technology to power the LED lighting array, eliminating the need for manual soldering or expensive surface mount (SMT) equipment. This lamp holder is ideal for lighting OEMs, reducing installation time, increasing connectivity options and reducing costs. Its solder-free screw-down connection enables a standardized manufacturing process and increases design flexibility. In addition, Sharp has developed a new contact structure for solderless LED array lamp holders.

Critically, because LED lighting is being used more widely in retail, hospitality, business, and government sectors, customers are looking for cost-effective, flexible solutions to bring next-generation lighting technology to these markets."

Molex's LED array bases are suitable for all general lighting applications, including downlights, architectural lighting and area lighting. The lamp holder has a double-ended wire trap terminal that simplifies array mounting and provides flexible routing for optimal routing. Releasable hub terminals can be field replaced to facilitate upgrades to existing applications. The thermoplastic housing of the lamp holder is adapted to the high thermal environment and meets the requirements of the UL496 specification. In addition, for Mega Zenigata lighting products, Molex offers an LED protection cover option that complies with the Zhaga specification.
