100A differential current sensor IC with small active area
Allegro MicroSystems, LLC announced the new fully integrated current sensor linear IC family in a new core-less package that can be designed to detect AC or DC currents up to 100A. Allegro's ACS780/ACS781 product family is housed in a new automotive-grade (1.5mm thick) sensor IC package, which represents the current sensor package with the highest current density among Allegro's current sensors. The new package has a very small footprint and enables extremely high power density transmission in current sensing applications. The Hall sensor also incorporates a common-mode field suppression function that optimizes the performance of the device in the presence of a disturbing magnetic field generated by a current-carrying conductor.
The ACS780/81 family of devices integrates a high-precision, low-zero-drift linear Hall circuit with a copper conduction path close to the wafer. The applied current produces a corresponding magnetic field as it flows through the copper diversion channel, which Hall IC converts to a proportional voltage. The near-field measurement of the current-carrying conductors and Hall sensors, and the programming of the sensitivity and zero-ampere output voltage at the Allegro factory, have made the device's accuracy even better.
This family of products integrates a chopper-stabilized signal path and digital temperature compensation technology that enables device performance to remain stable over the entire operating temperature range. Through the use of Allegro's proprietary integrated shield technology, the ACS780/81 family of devices can provide low output voltage ripple and low-offset drift requirements in high-side, high-voltage applications. Current conductor dV/dt and high resistance of stray electric field. As the current through the copper diversion path (for current sampling) increases (from terminal 8 to terminal 9), the output of the device has a positive slope (>VCC/2). The internal resistance of the diversion channel is typically 200μΩ and the power consumption is extremely low. The thickness of the copper conductor allows the device to withstand high overcurrent conditions. The terminals of the diversion path are electrically isolated from the signal pins (between pins 1-7 and pin 10), so that the device can also operate safely when the primary peak voltage reaches 100V.
The ACS780/81 series sensor ICs are ideal for automotive, industrial and computer applications. Automotive applications include applications such as electric power steering (EPS), DC/DC converters, and oil pump and air conditioning (HVAC) pumps that require higher currents. Industrial applications include low-side detection of variable frequency drives (VFDs) and other motor control systems. Other applications include computer server power output current detection and telecom inverters.
All devices are fully calibrated before shipment from the factory. The ACS780xLR series is lead-free and all pins are 100% matte tin lead-free and lead-free. The large-sized lead frame is made of oxygen-free copper.
