Toshiba Announces Consolidation of Its Semiconductor Company and Storage Products Company on July 1st

Toshiba recently announced on July 1 that it will formally merge its two subsidiary companies, semiconductor companies and storage products companies, into a new semiconductor-storage product subsidiary. At present, the business types of the semiconductor subsidiaries of Toshiba include NAND flash memory chip business and consumer-grade solid-state hard disk business; and the business types of storage subsidiary companies mainly include various types of mechanical hard disk services and enterprise-class solid-state hard disk services. The strategic restructuring will put Toshiba’s three main storage products: mechanical hard drives, solid state drives, and solid state storage devices including memory cards, as well as NAND flash memory chips. Focused on the management of the same company, the efficiency of product development and sales was improved.

The newly formed semiconductor and storage products company will consist of the Storage Technologies Division, the Storage Products Division (which manages the business of mechanical hard drives and solid-state drive products), and the Storage Strategic Planning Division (which is responsible for formulating the overall business strategy for storage device products).
