The LTC4415 contains two monolithic power path (PowerPathTM) ideal diodes, each capable of delivering up to 4A with a typical forward-going resistance of 50mΩ. At low currents, the diode voltage drop is regulated to 15mV during forward conduction, which extends the power supply operating range and ensures that no oscillations occur during power switching. The reverse current flowing from OUT to IN is less than 1μA, making the device ideal for power supply applications.
Two ideal diodes are independently enabled and prioritized using inputs EN1 and EN2. The output current limit can be independently adjusted between 0.5A and 4A using a resistor on the CLIM pin. In addition, the ideal diode current can be monitored by the CLIM pin voltage.
The open-drain status pin signals when the ideal diode is in a forward conduction state. When the chip temperature approaches the thermal shutdown threshold or the output load exceeds the current limit threshold, the corresponding alarm pin will be pulled low.
