The world's first solar train will be operated in Australia and transformed from an old train

【Global Science and Technology Report】 According to Australia’s “New Fastnet” on July 9, Australian coal tycoon Brian Flannery brings the world's first solar-powered train to Byron Bay, New Zealand. It will be put into operation before Christmas this year.

According to reports, the Byron Bay Railway Company, under Flannery’s name, is planning to run the world’s first solar-powered train on the abandoned Cassino-Merovelba line in 2004. The specific route for the project is from Byron Bay to North Beach, which is 3 kilometers one way. It runs 14 round trips from 8am to 10pm every day. During the Byron Bay Writers Festival and Byron Bay Food Festival activities will increase the frequency of specific circumstances.

The related solar train has only two carriages and was transformed from an old-fashioned train belonging to the historical heritage. Dan Cass, an Australian Institute of Renewable Energy research expert, said that this is the world’s first truly known solar-powered train that is powered by roof-safe solar panels. The North Byron carport where the train is parked has a solar array matrix that can be used to transmit electricity to the public grid during leisure hours.
