According to industry sources, China Mobile received the "Broadcast and Television Program Production and Operation License" issued by the radio and television regulatory department in March this year.
So far, China Mobile has obtained the qualifications to engage in three radio and television services, including Internet audiovisual program services, mobile TV distribution services, and radio and television program production.
According to the "Institutional Reform and Function Transformation Plan of the State Council" reviewed and approved by the First Session of the 12th National People's Congress, the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television formally merged into the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television on March 22.
Industry sources said that before the completion of the merger, the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television issued China Mobile with a “Broadcast and Television Program Production and Operation License†to design the full-service business qualifications for the production and broadcast control of the Internet, mobile terminals and radio and television programs.
As of now, China Unicom and China Telecom have not obtained such business licenses. Prior to this, China Mobile had obtained the "Information Network Broadcasting Audiovisual Program License" of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, and had the right to broadcast control and distribution. China Mobile has already established an Internet TV business project team internally, and has drafted the OTV Internet TV technical solution system draft and license connection issues with the radio and television.
