[CES 2018] HTC Officially Launches Vive Pro Professional VR Headset to Support SteamVR 2.0 Tracking System

During the early hours of Beijing time, HTC Vive held a product launch event and officially announced the launch of Vive Pro. The new version will be compatible with the SteamVR 2.0 tracking system in addition to a significant increase in resolution. In addition, HTC also announced the Vive Wireless Adaptor with Intel WiGig wireless technology.

Just as the preview given by HTC ahead of the press conference, the increase in resolution was the key point. Vive claimed that after their research found that 89% of users are concerned about the resolution of VR headsets, the launch of Vive Pro is equipped with dual 3.5-inch AMOLED display, with a resolution of 2880x1600 in both eyes, is 78% more than the original Vive.

At the same time, the Vive Pro version features the SteamVR 2.0 tracking and positioning system, which will also be compatible with the previous Vive. The new tracking system has expanded the tracking range from the original 4.5x4.5m to 10x10m.

The Vive Pro's headband has also been completely redesigned, incorporating high-performance headphones and a built-in amplifier, dual microphones with active noise reduction and two front-facing cameras, and an ergonomic design that balances the head-mounted display. Weight distribution.

It is understood that Vive Pro will be aimed at high-end players and enterprise users. Vive Pro's headphone (without handles and base stations) will be launched later this year. After that, the controllers and base stations supporting SteamVR 2.0 will be launched together.

In addition to the first display, HTC also upgraded its wireless suite. The Vive Wireless Upgrade Kit will be compatible with both Vive and Vive Pro, which uses Intel WiGig technology to operate in the interference-free 60GHz band for lower latency and higher performance. The Vive Line Upgrade Kit is scheduled to be available worldwide in the third quarter of this year.

In terms of content, Viveport has also been upgraded. Based on VR-First's design concept, Viveport VR launches "VR preview" to replace the traditional two-dimensional flat preview, allowing users to immerse themselves in content before purchasing content. The VR form fully previews VR content and even interacts with it. Earlier this year, Viveport launched the world's first VR content membership service. Now Viveport has more than 1,000 exciting content worldwide, and membership services have more than 300 types of content.

In addition, a new version of Vive's native VR video player, Vive Video, was introduced. Vive video can play 180 ÌŠ and 360 ÌŠ video content. With the newly designed Vive video application, users can more easily search for and obtain VR video content. Vive video has been launched on the Vive platform and will be pre-installed on the upcoming Vive Foucs all-in-one.

On the spot, the Vive booth showcased a variety of VR content optimized for Vive Professional, and demonstrated for the first time the multiplayer experience developed based on the upcoming Hollywood giant "Number One Player."
